The owners of Great Bedwyn’s bakery shop, which closed this summer, have applied to Wiltshire Council for change of use to turn it into a single residential house.
The owners have already got planning permission to turn the buildings behind the shop – the former bake house and outbuildings – into a residential unit.
The consultation on the change of use runs to August 28 and a decision by Wiltshire Council’s planning department is expect by September 18.
In their application the owners go to some lengths to outline the steps they have taken to sell 4 Church Street as a shop. These include sending a flier to a number of London bakeries, advertising with the School of Artisan Food and talking to the village Post Office.
Great Bedwyn Parish Council have objected to the application. And so far two near neighbours have raised concerns about local parking and the number of cars the new house would bring to nearby roads.
