Organisers of the Pewsey Carnival issued an announcement earlier today (Tuesday 19 May) that this year’s event will be cancelled.
Their statement: “It is with deep regret that, due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, Pewsey Carnival has been cancelled for 2020. The large crowds that traditionally gather for the main events are incompatible with social distancing and Carnival’s main source of income, Cossor’s Shop is closed now and for the foreseeable future. We are currently investigating the possibility of running modified or new events in a safe manner and further information will be released when known. In the meantime, we are confident that you will understand the necessity of safeguarding our families, friends and guests from the risk of Covid 19.”
