Oxfam are launching their Get Together campaign for International Women’s Day with a special session in Marlborough Town Hall on Thursday (6-8pm, February 7.) There’ll be drinks and food and Oxfam specialist Mark Lumby will be giving a first-hand account of Oxfam projects in Nepal.
This Get Together launch in Marlborough is all about starting ideas for Get Together events and encouraging women to get planning for International Women’s Day on March 8. An Oxfam fund raising Get Together can be absolutely anything – from cocktails or a movie night at home, to a killer quiz with colleagues or even just a cuppa with friends.
The Get Together campaign raises money for Oxfam’s work transforming the lives of women around the world who are experiencing poverty, discrimination, domestic violence and a lack of education.
Get Together is one of the UK’s largest celebrations of International Women’s Day – which is a national holiday in a number of countries around the world, including Afghanistan, Russia and Zambia. Last year several Marlborough people took part – holding various kinds of small-scale events raising money for projects with women.
