Arthur, a pupil in Year 3 at Oare Primary School, completed an ‘Epic Charity Bike Ride’ on Thursday 2nd June. The sponsored cycle ride took him from Wootton Rivers to Devizes along the canal (15.5 miles). So far he has raised a staggering £300 for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and £374 for Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital – that is £674 so far and the total is still rising!
This was completely his own idea and Arthur chose the charities himself. In addition, he project-managed the whole thing almost single-handedly and was extremely dedicated to training for the event.
A representative from the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital met Arthur at the finish line and presented him with a bag and a book.
Gudrun Osborn, Principal of Oare Primary School, said, “Arthur’s exemplifies the impact of our desire and work as a school towards ensuring the pupils of Oare become global citizens. He has shown through his fundraising that he cares about the world around him and understands that he can make a difference. Arthur is a true ambassador for the values of our school and our WE CARE curriculum. We are all extremely proud of him.”
