A free CAP Money budgeting and money management course is being run in June, supported by St Mary’s church. It is in the morning on 4 & 11 June 2019.
The focus of the course is to help people get control of their finances – if money is controlling you it can cause anxiety.
The UK statistics paint a dismal picture:
* the level of saving in the UK is less than anywhere else in Europe
* two thirds of all EU credit card debt is in the UK
* one in nine UK households have unmanageable debt
* Foodbank usage has trebled in the last three years
Research shows that people spend 18 per cent more of the money when using cards. That is simply because people cannot easily keep track of expenditure using cards as you can with cash.
The course introduces a simple cash based banking system and provides a free online budgeting tool for all participants.
The organiser for Christians Against Poverty says: “Previous attendees have found the course really helpful. Even if not in debt, most people can learn to manage their money better and benefit from the course.”
“The course runs across two weeks with each session lasting just two hours, a small commitment that can make a big difference.”
Those interested need to register as soon as possible. There is more information here – with a link to the registration website.
