The Department for Education’s Education Funding Agency has confirmed that the contract to build Marlborough’s new primary school has been signed by the Department and by the construction company. The contractors are Keir Construction.
Work on the site for Marlborough St Mary’s Primary School – east of the present St Mary’s Infants School – is now scheduled to begin on Monday, July 4.
Mark Thomas, chair of the new school’s governors, told Marlborough.News: “On behalf of the Governors, we are obviously delighted that we have eventually secured a new build primary school for the children of Marlborough. “
“A lot of hard work has gone into getting the construction contract agreed but also into the associated activities of appointing the Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and deciding the school name, uniform colour and logo for the new school. ”
“However, there is still a lot of work to do before the new school doors open in September 2017 and we look forward to the continuing support of Governors, staff, pupils and parents to deliver an outstanding primary school”
