The campaign to stop Marlborough College and Wiltshire Council building a hundred houses and new buildings for Preshute school on downland north of Barton Park and College Fields is gaining support.
As of Sunday (May 31), the petition linked to the Keep Marlborough Downs Special campaign website has 508 signatures. This boost follows the delivery of flyers to all homes in College Fields, Barton Park, Manton Hollow and Manton.
The campaign has also had a growing number of messages of support to its email address (keepmarlboroughdownsspecial@hotmail.com) from Marlborough residents saying they are keen to protect the areas open spaces and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Members of the campaign are still researching the details of the proposed development and how it came to feature on Wiltshire Council’s Housing Site Allocations Development Plan documents.
