Independent Councillor Terry Chivers has today (September 22) launched an online petition to try and force Wiltshire Council to publish a full list of members’ allowances and expenses.
It is normal for Councils to publish an online list of expenses they have paid to members of the council by the end of April. To date they have not done so.
Terry Chivers explained: “I just seem to be drawing a blank. What have they to hide? I asked weeks ago and I’m told that they will be online next week, but next week never comes.”
“I put forward a freedom of information request, which has been rejected. I have asked that they review their decision to reject my request, they have agreed to do so but say this may take up to 40 days. It’s a total joke. Residents can sign my petition by going to this web page.”
