Talks are still going on (midday, Wednesday, July 8) between the RMT union and First Great Western (FGW) to avert the strike action called over the union’s claims about safety and job losses when new trains are introduced on long-distance routes to Wales and to the west country.
If the strike goes ahead FGW say “most trains will operate” on the Bedwyn-Paddington route. But for services through to Pewsey they say: “A reduced train service is expected to operate.”
For all their services over the three days of the strike they warn: “Capacity will be limited and trains will be very busy. “
The advice is: check before you leave home to see whether your service is running. More information and directions to detailed enquiries can be found here.
