The former homeless hostel at 28A St Margaret’s Mead is to go to auction again. Aster tried to sell it at auction in September, but no buyer came forward.
Now Straker’s are auctioning the six bedroom house at the Corn Exchange in Devizes on Thursday, December 8 at 7pm.
In September the guide price was set at £450,000. It has now dropped by £55,000 and the sales board outside the property makes it clear that £395,000 is the lowest acceptable price.
The hostel was closed with Wiltshire Council’s agreement and alternative accommodation is being provided elsewhere in the county. Marlborough now has no similar accomodation for the homeless.
