The air quality monitor placed in the London Road by Wiltshire Council has recorded two days of extremely high levels of particulate matter.
On Wednesday, February 24, the level reached an all time high of 300 micrograms per cubic metre – the safe limit is just 50 micrograms per cubic metre. The following day a peak reading of just over 200 micrograms per cubic metre was recorded.
This monitor is very near St Peter’s School and there are, of course, a number of homes in the vicinity. The peaks seem to coincide with the traffic during the morning rush hour.
