I visited Marlborough Town to go Christmas shopping from Swindon on Wednesday 13 December 2023. I parked in George Lane Car Park (which I always do when visiting Marlborough Town) only to be confronted with a non-working parking machine, with the only option was to contact MiPermet. I tried to use the bar code displayed but like many other visitors was not working due to no internet. After 15 minutes we all tried to find a solution with many visitors giving up and leaving.
I have contacted the Marlborough Town Council officer who informed me this issues has been ongoing for some months and new payment machines have been delayed. I understand that County Councillor Caroline Thomas (East Ward) and also Member for Highways and Transport and street Scene is aware of this parking issue.
Could Marlborough.News investigate what the ongoing current situation is with visitors unable to pay cash or card and their only option is to use their iPhone if they have one?
I have attached photos of people standing around the parking machines. I have more points to discuss but look forward to your help on behalf of all visitors to Marlborough Town at Christmas.
