Amanda Palmer, Youth Chair at Marlborough Rugby is giving a very ‘big thanks’ to everyone who donated children’s books to their recent appeal for the Children’s Book Project charity which is dedicated to giving children who don’t have any books – books to read.
The response from the Marlborough community was phenomenal, far more books were dropped in to the collection points than had ever been expected, or even hoped for.
Amanda told marlborough.news that they really didn’t know the number of books that would be donated to the club and they’d put an initial ‘best hope’ at 600. In the end it was more than three times that and when the appeal closed the number donated was more than 2,000 – a precise number of 2,018.
All age groups – U6 to Colts promoted within their age groups and arranged collection of books. Collection points were Jones Robinson & Marlborough Rugby at the club house
Also Amanda gave a big thank you to go out to Elaine Blasco (Marlborough Rugby u6 & U8 parent) who agreed to store & count them all before they are all collected in the next week.
