A steady stream of key workers took advantage of the Rugby Club’s offer of free draught beer, lager and cider on Sunday (22 March) afternoon. Recipients included nurses, ambulance drivers, key retail staff and a GP. The club also sent round a large quantity of beer to the residents of Merlin Court care home and Waitrose sent up a representative to collect over 30 pints on behalf of their staff.
Club Secretary, Mark Thomas commented: “We were able to donate around 200 pints of beer to the key workers who joined us up at the club on Sunday. This included nurses, ambulance drivers and Waitrose staff. We also managed to get a few pints to the elderly residents of Merlin Court adjacent to the club. We still have some beer left which we will again be offering to key workers in the coming days”
The Club were well stocked before this crisis emerged and still have a few barrels left so are planning to repeat this donation at some point over the next few days.
