Ramsbury Brewery and Distillery has, for the time being, stopped making its prize winning gin and vodka and is making hand sanitizer. This is a move designed to help the local community and the brewery is keen to make sure that the hand sanitizer reaches those who need it the most – those in health care and the police – our frontline workers.
Alistair Ewing, Group Manager for Ramsbury Estates, told Marlborough.news, “We have plenty of gin and vodka in stock so we’ve switched to making hand sanitizer.”
Hazel Keen, Marketing, Events and Education Co-ordinator, explained, “We have donated some hand sanitizer to GWH, to Ramsbury and Wanborough Surgery and to Aldbourne and Ramsbury Parish Councils for those most in need.
We are covering our costs by selling it at fair price as we want to be sure it’s reaching the people who need it. We want to look out for our local community.”
Several care homes in the area, including those in Baydon and Lambourn, have ordered the product and the brewery is waiting to hear from Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council who have also expressed an interest.
“Instead of filling our mini kegs with beer we are now filling them with sanitizer. There’s a shortage of 5 litre bottles but we overcame the problem and got the job done. The mini kegs with their taps work really well,” commented Hazel.
