The Tap, Marlborough’s very own tap room with craft beer and street food, will open in the old stationery shop in Hughenden Yard by mid-May. The Tap is a joint venture for craft beer enthusiast, James Iles, and Mark Percival, who runs, Springs of Marlborough, the café next door. This means Tap customers will be able to order a range of street food as well as sample the craft beers on offer.
James told Marlborough.news, “We believe that Marlborough is long overdue a dedicated space to celebrate and enjoy craft beers. The Tap will be somewhere to go to try different beers and talk to people who like them. We will offer 8 lines, initially 7 beers and 1 cider, all from small independent breweries such as Swindon Hop Kettle. We will keep the beers changing so that when people come along they will get to try something new.”
James is no stranger to Hughenden Yard. He also runs a pop-up beer refill business, Beer There Everywhere, which has often operated outside Packaging Not included. The Tap will be offering takeaway beer, refills in bottles and ‘growlers’- 2 litre brown glass jugs/flagons which when purged and sealed stay fresh for a month.
The Tap will also offer a flight tasting tray with three glasses each containing one third of a pint of a different craft beer.
James commented, “We’re really excited to bring some new craft beer to Marlborough We are completely independent of a big brewery so if people recommend a beer to us we have the flexibility to try them.”
The Tap will open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and on Thursday to Sunday from lunchtime to late.
