This year’s scheme covers studios as far flung as Pewsey, Lambourn, Devizes, Calne, and Hungerford as the scheme celebrates its 19th year.
This year, the scheme is offering art lovers two trails – a Western trail encompassing 21 artists and one group across 18 studios, and an Eastern trail of 28 artists working and exhibiting from 19 studios.
Visitors can view and buy – often at a discount – work ranging from paintings, drawings, photographs and prints to ceramics, glass and wood work, and sculpture in stone, bronze and iron.
For those who don’t want to stray too far from Marlborough, there’s also the opportunity to see the work of 41 artists in 34 shop windows as part of the complementary Windows on Art scheme.
And to encourage residents and visitors to explore the art around them every day, Marlborough Open Studios have organised a ’Special Opening’ ahead of next year’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The event on Saturday, July 5 will give people the opportunity to see Spencer Stanhope’s exquisite gilded panels at Marlborough College Chapel.
Marlborough Open Studios runs on the weekends of July 5 and 6, 12 and 13, and 19 and 20 from 11am to 5pm. For more details about all the events, log on to http://www.marlboroughopenstudios.co.uk
