Building on the trail’s successful track record, residents, community groups and businesses have come forward to create a fantastic array of scarecrows. This year’s chosen theme is Fairy Tales & Musicals.
So visitors can expect to see favourite enchanted and theatrical characters amongst the eclectic mix of creations.
The event is organised by Aldbourne Churches Together (ACT) – a joint enterprise of the village’s St. Michael’s C of E Church and the Methodist Church. ACT assists with many activities in the village.

Organiser, Zoe Aldred, is proud that the Trail has now become a firm favourite on the village calendar: “The community is once again excited about scarecrow building and we are certain that the level of creativity will not disappoint.”
“We are very grateful for the support of a number of local businesses including Jungle Mania, The White Horse Bookshop, The Blue Boar and The Crown, Aldbourne. Thanks to them we are able to offer a fabulous range of prizes including a family ticket to Jungle Mania, two pub meals and book tokens.”
The route provides an excellent opportunity to explore the picturesque village and visitors can to take a break at the Methodist Church, Lottage Road where hot dogs and cakes will be available from 10am – 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Scarecrow Trail sheets, available at the Methodist Hall, cost £2.50 with an additional trail for children costing £1.
The children’s theme is Nursery Rhymes and Songs.
