Treacle Bolly and The Margins of the River Kennet – walk guided by Nick Baxter
20 August 2025 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

As part of Marlborough History Society’s outreach project, I – Nick Baxter, will be leading a guided walk, “Treacle Bolly and the Margins of the River Kennet” at 11am on Wednesday 20th August. The walk is open to the general public. Families are very welcome. The cost has been kept low at £5 per family. Individuals are also welcome at £5 per head. Because this is an outreach event the £5 charge applies to everyone including MHS members. Because of the length of the walk accompanied children must be aged 8 or above. No dogs please.
To book a place on the walk contact me, Nick Baxter, either by email at nickbaxter.history@gmail.com or by phone or text at 07368 421339. There is a limit of 20 people including accompanied children. Bookings will be made on a first come first served basis. Please bring £5 cash on the day.
The walk begins and finishes at the Tourist Information Point at the George Lane car park in Marlborough (postcode SN8 1BE). The TIP is next to the public toilets.
The walk is approximately 1.75 miles long and 2 hours in duration. It is of a gentle pace involving generally flat terrain. There are possible muddy stretches and stone and gravel paths. Approximately half of the walk is on pavements and metalled surfaces.
