
Ivy Lawrence, formerly of Savernake Crescent, Marlborough, celebrates her 100th birthday on 19 August.
Born in Portsmouth, Ivy was brought up in a children’s home. During and after the War, she trained as a State Registered Nurse at Bristol Royal Infirmary. She spent the whole of her working life in and around Marlborough, at Savernake Forest Hospital. the Children’s Convalescent Hospital and local care homes.
Ivy met her late husband Peter at a dance at Marlborough Town Hall. Ivy has three children, five grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great-grandchildren Ivy now lives in a care home in Malmesbury. She is celebrating her 100th with a party for friends and family at her grandson’s pub. She says the secret of a long life is to have a glass of beer every day.
