A day to remember of one of the most momentous events of the past century, the eightieth anniversay of VE Day, the day that the war in Europe came to an end. An event of celebration, recognition of what happened but always with a note of solemnity. A moving occasion.

Below are a selection of pics from the celebration. Not many words, the memories are the images. Click any image to enlarge.

Entertainment by the SING and the Preshute Primary School choirs, Ramsbury Brass Band and Phoenix Brass Band, a bugler to play last post at Sundown Flag Ceremony and a piper to lead the party on to the Common for the lighting if the Beacon.

Classic old cars, beautiful model planes of the Second World War era, fairground rides for the kids and some excellent food and driink on offer. A well organised event, lots happening, many groups involved but great credit to the Town Council for making it all run smoothly and also to Marlborough Rugby Club for hosting in the Clubhouse and the aprom outside where most of the events took place.
