Sir Tony Robinson, aka ‘Baldrick’ and many other notable and memorable characters that he has inhabited and bought to life will be at the Town Hall next week on Tuesday 21 October, to talk about his latest work – ‘The House of Wolf’ – his entry into the world of adult fiction. Described as ‘earthy’, ‘entertaining’ and ‘gloriously witty’ it’s a historical novel about the the recreation of the Anglo Saxons, Alfred the Great and the making of England.
Maybe this is his debut into adult fiction but beyond his notable characterisations and his presence in Time Team, Channel 4’s archeology series he has authored well over thirty children’s books and several adult non-fiction books including an autobiography – ‘No Cunning Plan’.
Talking of ‘Cunning Plans’, if asked why he was in Marlborough weeks after LitFest’s weekend and doing a first for LitFest – a ‘LitFest Plus’ event – he may well answer by ascribing that as ‘one of them’, a Cunning Plan. Or more likely, he wouldn’t……. So we won’t ask.
But a fascinating and entertaining evening beckons, a very special and welcome chance to hear one of our most iconic and loved actors and authors.
