Time flies, and it hardly seems like yesterday that the Cinema first opened its doors to paying customers, coming in to enjoy watching some excellent films in real comfort, with superb sound and on a large and easily visible (from everywhere) screen.
And it was only in December last year that the Cinema was formally opened by Camilla (the then) Duchess of Cornwall, now Queen Consort, wife of King Charles III.
Plenty has happened in the Cinema since the doors first opened. Apart from the films, they have served 1.8 tonnes of popcorn, poured 19,600 glasses of wine and 38,000 cups of coffee and shown a total of 583 different films, spread across the regular Kids’ Club, Subtitled films, Parent & Baby sessions, as well as live performances from The Royal Opera House, Met Opera and National Theatre. The Parade Cinema has been busy.
As well as film events there have been other popular offerings such as the Family Music Festival and Easter Bunny Hunt. Something for everyone.
The Peter Vaughan inspired kitchen, the bar and the heated outdoor courtyard has made the Cinema a place to go, even if not going inside to watch a film. The Parade Cafe is a now established as a great place to socialise, all within the beautiful surroundings of this historic building, the former Union Chapel.
So what about year 2? Plenty of top films scheduled to be screened. And on Saturday, 29th October a Halloween Hunt for Kids’ Club, followed by a Film Festival & Christmas Market (with live music and a visit from Father Christmas) from Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th December.

David Williams, Cinema Manager told Marlborough.news: It’s been an amazing first year and so exciting to be able to bring cinema back to Marlborough. The reception has been incredible, and it’s truly wonderful to see how the people of Marlborough have flocked to The Parade. I am so proud of what the team have made here and all the events we have been able to put on. We have some exciting things happening between now and the end of the year, and 2023 is looking like an incredible year for film.
