Marlborough’s latest independent new shop, Tarte in a Box, has opened today, October 28, next door to Crosby and Lawrence at the St Peter’s end of the High Street. Founder, owner and Cordon Bleu trained, Jane Beebee started selling a selection of her handmade sweet and savoury tarts online last year and is excited to be opening her first shop in Marlborough.
Jane told Marlborough.news, “I was attracted to Marlborough by the large number of independent shops already here. All of our tartes are handmade from the freshest of ingredients and locally sourced. I want to champion independents and British industry.”
There are savoury, sweet and chocolate tartes on offer. They can be bought by the slice or as whole tarte. A whole tarte is 9” or 23 cms in diameter. Jane also sells freshly made salads. Nothing is frozen enabling you to pop any left over tartes into the freezer for another time.
Six rotations of tartes have been created to reflect the four seasons as well as Christmas and Easter. There’s also a tear and share tarte. In addition to sausage rolls, Jane has also created a vegetarian alternative which she has named a Sroll. Fillings include – chickpea, chestnut and mushroom and red pepper, cheese and lentil.
The shop also sells crisps, popcorn and sweets such as Claire’s Amaze Balls as well as handmade macaroons.
Opening hours are as follows – Tuesday to Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-4, Sunday 10-4. Jane can be contacted on 07808152218 for orders.
