The chaos will (hopefully) be over by the end of today (Friday 29 August), Wales & West Utilities have confirmed that the works have now been completed, they are doing the final reinstatement this morning and traffic lights will be removed by lunchtime today.
That’s good news, the journey from High Street to Business Park might just take single numbers of minutes rather than tens of minutes from now on but always in Marlborough where will the next traffic lights and roadworks suddenly appear?
We note that Danny Kruger is now pushing the ‘lane rental’ system where contractors and utilities have to ‘rent’ the road that they are digging up, this is what happens in the London area (only at present) but this would mean that any delay will cost that utility, hence they will work faster. Wilts Councillor Jane Davies has been making moves to bring this to reality, something that would be a great benefit to us all here in Marlborough (see recent traffic chaos piece)
