Saturday’s storms, which saw strong winds gust across Wiltshire, left police and council contractors battling to clear Marlborough’s roads of fallen trees.
And one point on Saturday afternoon, up to a dozen roads were blocked or partially blocked, including the A4 at Fyfield, where small trees had fallen into the road, and the slip road into Burbage from the A346, which was totally blocked by a fallen tree.
The A346 through the Savernake Forest saw trees felled, as did the A4192 at Preston, the A345 at Oare, the A338 at Burbage, and roads through the villages of Lockeridge, Durley and Clatford.
At Postern Hill, just outside Marlborough, police used a bow saw to cut away branches from a fallen tree and clear the carriageway.
