Marlborough High Street was closed just after 9 am this morning, Monday February 3, due to a major road accident. Police at the scene said a single vehicle was involved.
The emergency services were called. It appeared that the vehicle had spun out of control and turned on its side blocking the entrance to Figgins Lane, between Downtown Barbers and Fair Isle Wool shop.
Marlborough.news understands that there only one person was involved – the driver of the car, a grey Volkswagen Passat. The air ambulance was called out, landed in Priory Gardens but the driver, a man in his sixties was pronounced dead at the scene.
The High Street was still closed to traffic at 12.15pm. Police are appealing for information, including any dash cam footage which could assist with their enquiries, and ask that anyone with such information call the Wiltshire Police Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting log 140 of today (3 February).
