Local musicians will be busking in the sunshine on the Hilliers Terrace on Saturday June 20 between 10am and 5pm to create a relaxed air of celebration for shoppers.
Jo Heaven, from The Emporium of Loveliness, told marlborough.news: “We want to thank all our customers old and new and welcome you back to the loveliest shopping location in Marlborough – Hilliers Yard. People have been through a lot of stress and worry so it will be nice to put a smile on people’s faces. We want to spread a bit of love around Marlborough.
The music will provide a lovely ambience to your foray back into relaxed shopping – all socially distanced and hygiene stations provided of course! Look forward to seeing you all!”
The Emporium of Loveliness, Ducklings Toy Shop, The India Shop and Mystique have been open since Monday June 15 and Luisa’s sugarcraft and Cake Decorating supplies since Tuesday June 16. Mercers Coffee Shop and Hilliers Restaurant have been doing a take away service during lock down. Hilliers restaurant will be offering a take away bbq and soft drinks counter on Saturday.
There is an eclectic mix of music on offer – banjo, accordion, guitarist and a group. “The musicians are so excited,” commented Jo. “It’s their first gig since lockdown.”

The Emporium of Loveliness raises funds for Empower the Gambia (registered charity 1161200) which supports projects for women and children in rural Gambia. They are accepting donations apart from bric a brac.
Jo says, “We know everyone has been cleaning out their wardrobe over lock down and we want it all! Simply drop off and we will double bag them to store for over 72 hours to minimise risk.
We are the cheapest charity shop in town and the loveliest. We specialise in brand new, designer, retro and quirky as well as wedding and prom wear. We have a sale on offering separates for £2 and dresses for £5. We look forward to seeing you.”
