Kelly Edwards, Home Manager at Coombe End Court Residential Care Home, Marlborough is fundraising to support Marlborough Academy of Dance and Drama’s (MAD) summer show at The Wyvern Theatre. Taking on a MAD March challenge of running 150kms in the month, Kelly has raised £500 so far. Click here if you would like to support her.
She told Marlborough.news, “When this MAD idea came about there were two of us! With days to go my running partner sustained an injury. I decided to take on the challenge solo as I wanted to give back to MAD. They regularly put on free performances for my residents in Coombe End Court, with the next one being in May. These performances bring so much joy to my residents. It’s very heart-warming to witness.
Both my daughters have been part of the MAD family, with my youngest still dancing with MAD now. The love, support and encouragement from Cheryl and all the teachers is priceless.
Running around a full time job and my own sporting commitments has been tough. All monies raised will go towards costumes and materials needed for the show.”
Marlborough Academy of Dance and Drama (MAD) provides a family atmosphere supporting young people from 3 – 18 years. Established in September 2013, MAD provides high quality Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre Training for children aged 3+. It offers exciting opportunities, whilst building confidence and social skills. MAD supports all students, whether they wish to attend classes for pure enjoyment, or to pursue a career in the industry. They help students to gain confidence whilst passing on a passion for the Arts and offer classes to boys and girls of all abilities.
MAD has long standing community links providing free performances at community events such as the Marlborough Christmas light switch on, local school fetes, and performing for residents at care homes which also encourages valuable intergenerational relationships within the community.
