Next Wednesday – 9 November, u3a in Kennet will finally be holding their rescheduled birthday celebration in the Town Hall. Originally scheduled for 14 September the death of Queen Elizabeth II made the u3a team decide to postpone the party out of respect for Her Majesty, but now it’s taking place next week.
So now we’ll be able to see the Mayor, Lisa Farrell (with a bit of necessary assistance from Town Crier Mike Tupman) slicing up the massive u3a 30th Birthday Cake into lots of (100 or more?) pieces for everyone to enjoy.
u3a in Kennet is there for those no longer in full time employment, offering activities and interest groups across a very wide range of topics and subjects. The membership in this area numbers nearly six hundred and there are about sixty different interest groups ranging from art, walking, wine, languages, photography, cars – a pretty wide spread – so something relevant and attractive for just about everyone in the post-full-time working stage of life.
u3a in Kennet welcomes anyone interested in joining to come along, meet many of the members who will also be enjoying a slice of cake who will be able to give information about u3a in Kennet itself, the subjects of the many interest groups and how to join.
u3a in Kennet is a group for its members. Whoever they are, of whatever political or religious belief as it’s both non-political and non-religious. If no longer in full-time employment, u3a in Kennet, could embrace you.
Proceedings start at 10am and run through to 3pm and all will be very welcome in the Town Hall for a visit and enjoy tea and some cake or a biscuit, and to find out more about u3a, the large range of interest groups that they can offer and meet some of the Kennet area members.
The joining fee will be waived for new mambers who join on that day. For more information visit the u3a in Kennet website: www.u3ainkennet.org.uk.
