No, not a western shootout just a Palm Sunday service in Manningford, which is – OK – to the west of Pewsey just along the Pewsey Vale. And Bonnie & Clyde aren’t outlaws – or these two anyway. They are a pair of donkeys from nearby Woodborough. The Bishop is Andrew Rumsey, Bishop of Ramsbury, who will be holding the Palm Sunday service there, the first time that he’s attended St Peter’s.
Donkeys are synonymous with Palm Sunday and St Peter’s welcomes Denise from Le Marché at Woodborough Yard, accompanied by her two-year-old Bonnie ( black coat) and three-year-old Clyde (grey coat) to greet guests in the churchyard. There will be opportunities for everyone to pet the donkeys and for children to have their photo taken.
So a Palm Sunday service with a bit of a difference – Donkeys and a Bishop. All are welcome, a family occasion rather than just a church service, albeit for one of the notable Sundays of the year.
