The Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon has been awarded a £371,000 capital grant by Arts Council England. The money will mainly be used to upgrade technical equipment in the auditorium to allow a greater variety of artists to perform there.
The Centre draws audiences for its concerts from all over the county and is supported by Wiltshire Council.
Arts Council England have announced three other capital grants for the south west region – Bristol’s Tobacco Factory theatre, North Devon Theatres and Somerset Film in Bridgwater.
The Wiltshire Music Centre’s grant will cover a wide range of improvements including equipment to allow the streaming of opera, ballet and music, and to transmit workshops and master classes to schools as part of their work with the new Wiltshire Music Hub for music education.
The Centre also plans to improve the foyer, the outside appearance of the building and its lighting, as well as providing new office space for its growing work in partnership and outreach projects.
And if that was not cheering enough, you can hear Courtney Pine at the Centre this Friday (January 25) – for details see our What’s On calendar.
