Now for some welcome news: Members of Marlborough Town Council’s Planning Committee were told on Monday (January 14) that Wiltshire Council is to re-surface George Lane and London Road in April – the first month of the new financial year.
Many people have told marlborough.news that the surface of George Lane and parts of London Road has been dangerous – and a ‘disgrace’ – for over a year.
Until the Town Mayor and Town Clerk have a meeting with the Principal Technical Officer for Highways, it will not be clear how extensive the work on the two roads will be. It could be a quick re-surfacing or could involve more major re-laying that may be necessary for roads that are bearing an increasing traffic load – especially double-decker buses both on regular routes and on school contracts.
