Aldbourne Band win at South West brass contest

At the recent South West Brass Band contest held in Torquay, the Aldbourne Band, under the baton of Musical Director Josh Ruck, took top prize with their performance of Philip Spark’s ‘Dances and Alleluias’ beating eight other bands in the Open section of the regional competitions.
 
Later this month the band will be playing at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon as guests of the Kentwood Choir at their Christmas Cracker concert on Sunday November 22.  And then they start their busy round of Christmas engagements.

Christmas concerts include Friday, December 4 at Chiseldon Church (7.30pm). Saturday, December 5 at St. Michael’s Church, Aldbourne  (4pm) – with the Training Band as guests.  Saturday, December 12 at Haydon Wick Community Centre (7.30pm).  And Saturday, December 19 as guests of the Swindon Male Voice Choir in concert in Holy Rood Church, Swindon (7.30pm).
 
Then in January the band will be playing the fifty-third annual concert at Immanuel United Reform Church, Upham Road, Swindon. The Immanuel Church Choir, directed by Geoff Gleed, and the Aldbourne Youth Band will also be performing.
