Sirs,
Wiltshire is famed for its White Horses but we now only have eight left from the original thirteen.
Since 1804 Marlborough has had its own White Horse on display just above the tennis courts of Marlborough College. There is a plaque nearby listing the location of Wiltshire local White Horses which are a tourist attraction.
I regularly walk from Treacle Bolly to Preshute and Manton and am sad to see that the White Horse is rapidly fading into the hill. I have chatted with passers by and they have unanimously agreed they would like a clearly visible White Horse.
As a community project of historic interest for the benefit of both Marlborough residents and visitors to our town, would you please consider starting a campaign to restore our White Horse. I would like to think that this would be supported by council members .
Yours,
Geraldine Williams
