Sirs,
May I reply to the recent letter from Suzy Deering who wrote on behalf of the KAMP. In her letter she questions my support for the work carried out by the professionals and volunteers carrying out the vaccination programme. On the contrary I have stated both publicly and privately my congratulations and thanks to all those involved in the programme.
My concern has always been about the decision not to include a venue somewhere in Marlborough as a vaccination centre. Our own Surgery is located adjacent to a very large car park, and I mentioned the Town Hall , old Youth Centre and the College Memorial Hall playing field as other venues. This concern came from local people, often elderly, who were worried about having to drive out of Marlborough on dark nights on country roads in sometimes adverse weather conditions. I believe that as a local Unitary Councillor it was my duty to raise these concerns without diminishing the work carried out by those involved in carrying out the vaccination programme.
However I understand that discussions are now taking place regarding the possible use of the Marlborough Leisure Centre. If successful this would be great news.
Once again, congratulations and thanks for all those involved in the vaccination programme.
Yours,
Cllr. Stewart Dobson
Unitary Councillor, Marlborough East
