Dear Sirs,
Local people from the area are launching a new Oxfam Fundraising Group and as such are hoping to find like-minded people to join them – people who would like to use their time and skills to make a lasting change for people living in poverty and people who want their local action to have a global impact.
With Oxfam’s support the group will help to lift communities around the world out of poverty – communities like Kalindi in Zambia.
Here, Oxfam provides materials, training for teachers and helps build classrooms and school amenities through it’s partner ZEDAO.
Classes at Kalindi school used to be held under a tree – but with money raised by Oxfam supporters, two classrooms, a well & toilets have been built, along with the provision of school books & teaching resources.
There will be presentations on Oxfam’s work, including the opportunity to hear first-hand about Oxfam’s work in Zambia from guest speaker Janine Woodward, member and coordinator of Oxfam Bath, who visited the country last year.
For more information and to reserve a place we ask that people contact me directly on 07952 437 754 or at bcarr@oxfam.org.uk so we can be sure to get enough tea and biscuits for all!
