A first for Marlborough’s Parade Cinema – playing host to an exciting and established Film Festival, Ignite.
Now in its second year, Ignite, which celebrates independent film from around the globe, will bring a spectacular multi-day event to the Parade that will unite filmmakers and film lovers in this new iconic cinema.
The Festival runs across five days – starting on Tuesday 28 June and culminating with a glamorous red carpet gala awards night on Saturday 2 July, which will see the top selected filmmakers awarded with a unique Ignite hand-crafted award designed by local artist, Mark Pepperall.
The festival is a platform for independent films of all genres and styles. Something for everyone and everybody’s taste.
Ignite is the brainchild of film production company ‘Firebird Films’ owners Ross and Amelia Mackenzie, and filmmaker and experienced film festival judge Billy Rees. Their sole aim is to create an independent film event that will stand out from other film festivals – with a focus on quality, diversity and creativity.
Billy Rees told marlborough.news: “We are incredibly excited to be hosting this years event at The Parade Cinema. The film industry is saturated with high budget remakes and sequels so it is vital, now more than ever, that the independent film industry is supported and given a public platform – where better to do that than a stunning independent cinema. We are screening over 50 films from all over the world, made by immensely talented filmmakers. A lot of whom will be joining us for the event to engage with our audience and show them just how great indie film is.”
