
As from today, 22 May the former Police Station in George Lane is open for offers for development. Naji Darwish, Chief Executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) announced that it is being marketed by BNP Paribas Real Estate. We’ve checked the BNP Paribas Real Estate UK website but no details there yet.
Naji Darwish issued the following statement:
‘Following the refusal of its planning application, McCarthy Stone confirmed that it no longer intended to proceed with the purchase of the site. The company has now formally withdrawn its offer.
‘As a result, I wanted to inform you that the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner, will commence the marketing of the site on the open market from 22 May 2026. You can find all details here: BNP Paribas Real Estate UK and we expect this go live today with the following timeline is applicable with a deadline of 19 June 2026 for submissions.
’This process will be open and transparent, with the aim of securing best value for this public asset. Any capital receipt will support the PCC’s capital programme, helping to ensure the ongoing delivery of an effective and efficient policing service for Wiltshire and Swindon.
’As with any disposal, any future development of the site will be subject to the relevant statutory planning process, through which local stakeholders and residents will have the opportunity to provide their views.’
