Tomorrow, Saturday 28 June there will be a ‘drop-in’ session at the Jubilee Centre between 10am and 12:30 where anyone can meet with the Town Centre Working Party project team, make suggestions or comments, or hear what is being discussed and planned. A part of the process where the people of Marlborough can become directly involved in shaping the future of the town, as the town is there for us all.
To enable parents to see what’s there, find out about the project and give their views some children’s entertainment is being arranged. This should enable the parents with young children to be able to relax, discuss and give their opinions. The entertainment will be in a safe area away from the road. Young families are important, they are the future of the town so a key part of this process is establishing what they believe is necessary to shape the Marlborough of the coming decades.
This is a process that has been going on now for several years, starting with a survey of all residents in the autumn of 2022 where residents were asked about the town centre – what they liked, didn’t like, what would make it even better and what they would like to see developed.
To support this process the Town Council secured funding from Wiltshire Council under their ‘Wiltshire Towns Programme’.
So far several developments have happened – signage at the town boundaries and within the town has probably been the most notable – but this is still a process that has some way to go. But this can’t happen without input from the people of Marlborough and this session at the Jubilee Centre is one opportunity to learn more about the process, what has happened so far, and also to add a bit of input and direction into how this develops further.
