‘The Marlborough’ has now officially reopened but as a very different business to just a short while back. Behind the relaunch are Louise Martin and Annaliese Hughes, experienced in the hospitality industry and credited in recent times with the relaunch of the Orange Grove Hotel in Warsash, close to the Hamble river in Hampshire. ‘The Marlborough’ won’t be quite on this scale but it will show the direction of travel.
Whilst the name won’t change there will be recognition of the heritage of ‘The Sun Inn’, with a Sun being incorporated into the logo for the new pub. Work has been going on behind closed doors and Louise and Annealiese have embarked on what they describe as ‘a thoughtful restoration and rebrand that blends contemporary charm with respect for the building’s storied past’.
In addition to the restaurant and bar, ‘The Marlborough’ will also unveil newly refurbished guest bedrooms in February, following a full upgrade in the new year. Designed to offer boutique comfort in the heart of town, the rooms will blend period character with contemporary finishes, creating a stylish retreat for visitors exploring Marlborough and the surrounding Wiltshire countryside.
What guests to The Marlborough will discover will be a dining experience delivered by head chef James Wills, described as ‘a refined yet welcoming experience; featuring seasonal menus, Sunday roasts, and a warm setting that celebrates Marlborough’s hospitality heritage.’
