Whilst on the evening of 12 December St Peter’s was alive with Christmas songs and music, at lunchtime today (Monday 19 January) it was serene, quite and peaceful. Apart from the rustling of paper as a cheque (for £690), the Jubilee Centre share (half) of the money raised at the Cabaret evening was handed to Jubilee Centre Chair, Wiltshire Councillor Jane Davies by Judith Sharpe, star of and director of the show. The other half (also £690!) went to St Peter’s for the roof fund.
The singers, led by Judith Sharpe, were assembled from various local community choirs. The Cabaret was a sell out. People could sit around tables (cabaret style) and buy drinks from the bar, the atmosphere was full of the seasonal joys. During the intermission volunteers moved among the tables selling raffle tickets for a very large hamper full of Christmas goodies kindly donated by Nicki Evans.
It was such a sell-out success in December 2024 that the idea of a repeat didn’t require any debate. It happened, organised by Judith, Nikki Evans and also by Roger Grant, the ‘Impressario’ of MantonFest every year and now also of the Park Farm Festival in Devizes.
Again in December 2026? ‘You bet’ voiced the trio of Judith, Nikki and Roger. In perfect three-part harmony…….
