Age UK Wiltshire’s new shop on Marlborough High Street, next door to the One Stop / Post Office is now open. At 10:30am this morning, Charity Trustee, Richard Purchase cut the ribbon to declare the new shop / Information and Advice centre formally open.
This new Age UK Wiltshire outlet is more than just another ‘Charity Shop’. Helped by the ‘Vibrant Wiltshire Vacant Unit’ Grants programme, facilitated by Wiltshire Council it also acts as an ‘Information & Advice Hub’, enabling customers to access free, quality-accredited advice, a service tailored for older people, their families, and caregivers.
“We are delighted to receive this grant from Wiltshire Council, which will enable us to realise our vision of an ‘age-friendly’ Wiltshire, with an empowered older population. With this support, we aim to not only breathe new life into a vacant space but also to make a meaningful contribution to the vibrancy and vitality of Marlborough’s town centre,” said Sarah Cardy, CEO of Age UK Wiltshire.
But Age UK Wiltshire are asking you, Marlborough’s residents for help. They want donations, which they describe as ‘very welcome’ as are volunteers, who are vital to the successful operation of this new shop. Visitors will be able to find an array of leaflets from our free, quality accredited Information & Advice service, covering topics such as care, financial and legal advice.
Age UK Wiltshire is a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people in Wiltshire. Through a range of services, including social activities, companionship, and practical support, the organisation aims to combat loneliness, promote independence, and enhance the well-being of older people in the community. The new outlet on Marlborough High Street will be there to help the older residents of the town.
