The Hills Group has given Marlborough Golf Club a £70,000 grant through the Landfill Communities Fund which is run for Hills by Community First – the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.
The club’s application for funding that will benefit the community was agreed at a recent Hills board meeting.
Work on resurfacing the car park and improvements to the showers will be started in a few weeks: “With increased usage by the Tennis Club and with it more
youngsters, the club has been aware that individual shower cubicles would be essential and resurfacing and white lining of the car park highly desirable.”
A spokesman for the club explained that they had been patching up pot holes in the car park for sometime: “It was clear that a complete overhaul was a priority for the convenience and safety of members and the general public.”
Club official Les Trute said: “We are very grateful to Hills who have been generous supporters of our club over many years.”
