Marlborough News Online asked Beauty – Fulltime to show us a glamorous Christmas make over for our first printed Christmas Shopping Guide 2014 (which you can pick up in town). The Guide shows how to make up eyes; this is the full story.
The full list of products appear at the end, along with an exclusive offer to MNO / Christmas Shopping Guide readers.
Preparation
- Begin with a good quality moisturiser. Nude moisturiser used here is not too thick, and good for sensitive skins as it contains no parabens or sulphites.
- Then apply primer to face and eyes to unify and smooth the texture of the skin.
Base
- Apply concealer with a wedge sponge under the eyes, the T-zone (between eyes, along nose and chin), edges of nose and *TOP TIP* along a well waxed/plucked eyebrow line for top definition.
Apply foundation and face powder with a brush – less is more! (Apply less powder to older, dryer skin.) *ESSENTIAL* ask for the right colour foundation for your skin tone.
Shaping
- Bronzer slims the face and adds dimension; apply where the sun would tan – top of forehead, temples, cheekbones, ears.
- Apply blusher, then blend highlighter on cheek brows (the bone just under the eyes).
Eyes
- We’ve used the colours that fit our model Kerry, but request the best colours for your skin tone.
- Define, fill in and even out the natural shape of your eyebrows with eyebrow twister – don’t be tempted to redraw them.
- Apply highlighter shadow across the eyelids.
- Get a precise line along the top eyelashes with eyeliner pencil, then follow with liquid pen – pull up the eyelid to get close, crucial for older eyes; add ‘wings’ at the outer corners for extra glam.
- Shade in the eyelid crease with Matt Brown to give more depth (people with small eyes should leave out this stage).
- *CHRISTMAS GLAM TIP* using an angled eyeshadow brush, blend Smoky Grey under the bottom eyelashes for a soft but dramatic look.
- Apply mascara lightly to top and bottom lashes.
- Blend black shadow over top eyelid liner.
- Cut false eyelashes to size then apply with tweezers.
Lips
- Apply lipstick straight from the stick then finish with lipgloss.
- *TOP TIP* for a professsional finish, blend, blend, blend.
