Last week Preshute Primary School organised a Teddy Bear’s Picnic to welcome the new reception class children who will be starting school for the first time in September. The special picnic was held at Westwind, Manton, an informal country garden set in 4 acres which is part of the open National Garden Scheme and which also hosts weekly outdoor learning for pupils from Preshute, courtesy of owner Kate Stewart-Hilliar.
Charlotte Coulson, Preshute’s Reception/Y1 teacher, told Marlborough.news, “As Term 6 comes to a close, we are looking ahead to September and welcoming our new intake of children. What better way to do this than inviting them to a Teddy Bears picnic – in the woods no less.
Our existing Bumblebee children who will shortly be going up to Year 1, welcomed the new children. They undertook lots of exciting tasks together before rounding off with a yummy snack!
We are so grateful to Kate, our lovely neighbour, who has, along with her late mother Jerry, welcomed the Preshute children with open arms into their glorious garden. All of our students over the last 2 years have had the opportunity to spend time there, planting, crafting and den building. Even when the weather isn’t on our side it is such a wonderful place to be. We are so very grateful for the opportunity.
Our new children had a lovely time making new friends; we are looking forward to seeing them again in September.”
