The musical tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier (played by Emilia Houchin from Year 9) a high-spirited aspiring singer, who witnesses a murder and is forced to enter the Queen of Angels convent under witness protection where she quickly finds her place in the women’s choir. While Deloris does not share the faith and modesty of her fellow nuns, her newly found community of sisters offers her friendship and fellowship, and in turn, Deloris teaches each woman how to raise her voice in beautiful praise. The choir’s new sound proves a big draw, attracting new worshippers at church services, sorely needed donations, and community attention.
Drama teacher, Mrs Pidgeon, said, “We are incredibly excited to welcome you to Sister Act Jr, this year’s theatre production at St John’s, Marlborough. We are so proud of our students, and it really has been a pleasure witnessing the talent grow over the last 6 months.”
Alan Henderson, Principal, commented, “Those familiar with the theatre productions at St John’s will know that the audience is in for a huge treat. The sheer talent on show here is mind-blowing and we can’t wait to share this with our community.”
