On Sunday 21st September Marlborough Bowls Club welcomed their Sponsors and invited them to try their hand at Bowls. For the Sponsors, this was new. None had tried Bowls before.
The event kicked off with some basic bowling tuition followed by a challenge Target Bowls game. Teams of four comprising of two sponsor guests and two experienced bowlers bowled towards Bulls Eye targets laid out around the bowls green. There were five targets in total each target measured 60cm (roughly 2ft) across. Shots were taken and scores counted of which the lowest team recorded five points the highest aamassedt forty seven points. Age isn’t necessarily a help, the youngest bowler aged 10 was the only bulls eye scorer on the day!
The weather was sunny. It was a good day with everyone having fun. It was an occasion to become better acquainted. Afternoon tea was served and the bar was open for custom.
This was the first of its kind and the club hope that it will become an ‘end of season’ feature of the Marlborough Bowls Club annual calendar.
Marlborough Bowls Club again thanks all Sponsors for their support as all monies generated through their advertising around the bowls green helped towards the purchase of new kit.
Whilst the ‘green’ may ‘go to sleep’ for some much needed rest, recuperation and repair over the winter months bowls doesn’t stop. It moves indoors.
Over the winter the Club opens up to Indoor bowling commencing Monday evening on 6th October and then every Wednesday and Thursday between 2.00pm – 4.00pm. Click here to find more about all Marlborough Bowling activities.
