Preparations for Christmas are well underway at Preshute School. The children have entered a bauble colouring competition while the parents who are members of the PPSA (Preshute Primary School Association) have organised a virtual Christmas Market and a virtual Christmas Fayre.
All 107 coloured baubles from the Blitzen Bauble Colouring Competition have been sent to Brendoncare, Froxfield where they are decorating the communal areas and bringing some Christmas cheer. Residents at Brendoncare have also judged the competition commenting, “They take your breath away; they are so beautiful!” The winners will be announced on December 12.
Rachel Crossey, co-chair of the PPSA told Marlborough.news, “We wanted to do something positive and proactive this Christmas to raise much needed funds for the school, but also to support our local businesses who are finding it difficult to find an outlet for selling their Christmas wares without the usual Christmas markets.
A team of volunteer parents set up the Preshute School Virtual Christmas Market on Facebook, which has 40 stall holders selling items from stocking fillers, Christmas decorations, delicious festive treats, stylish clothing, books, toys and lots of ideas for Christmas presents.
The Market opened on the 16th November. It is doing really well, with 192 followers and thousands of page views. It will run until the 20th December. You can visit the market by clicking here.
The virtual Christmas Fayre will run to midnight on Friday 11th December. The Fayre includes a link through to the Virtual Market and a stall for each class year group. It includes a raffle, fun activities, games, Christmas Bake Off competitions and sales of Christmas items. Click here to visit and to buy your raffle tickets.
On Saturday 12th December the grand finale of the Fayre will include a live stream, via the website, where the Raffle draw of 60+ prizes worth over £1500 will be announced.
The Raffle prizes have all been donated by the wonderful small businesses in and around Marlborough, and we can’t thank them enough for their support!
This year we also have Gifts in Kind prizes for the Raffle, where parents have donated their time or services, such as dog walking, cooking, baking. This has been really well received. The Fayre is a great achievement considering the restrictions we have been working under.”
