Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from Monday August 3 until August 31 many of the pubs, restaurants and cafes in Marlborough and the surrounding villages will be offering a discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks.
As part of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme customers will receive a 50% discount up to a maximum of £10 per diner. The discount is on offer all day Monday to Wednesday.
You do not need a voucher to use the scheme and it can be used as many times as you like. There is no minimum spend and you don’t have to order food to be eligible. The offer does not apply to takeaway food, alcoholic drinks or service charges.
Participating venues in Marlborough include: The Lamb, Dan’s, Pino’s, Raj Indian, Biteme Burger, The Roebuck, The Marlborough, Tea Inc, The Polly, Bunce’s, St Peter’s. Outside Marlborough, The Bell at West Overton, The Oddfellows at Manton, The Crown and Blue Boar at Aldbourne, The Three Tuns at Bedwyn and Cobbs Farm Shop café are part of the scheme.
The government hopes the scheme will entice diners by the discount on offer. It wants to boost confidence in going out, and to increase footfall at a quieter time of the week.
Debbie Panzetta, who owns St Peter’s Coffee Shop, together with husband, David, told Marlborough.news, “I think it’s a brilliant idea although we have been busy every day since we reopened because the safety measures we have put in place have given people confidence to come here. I think the scheme will make more of a difference to our customers. Bookings are already filling up; someone has just booked for every Wednesday in August.”
St. Peter’s has created ‘family bubbles’ behind perspex screens together with a one-way system. Debbie says, “A lot of people who are on the vulnerable list come because they know it is safe to do so. We pride ourselves on homemade and everything we can possibly make is made on the premises. Home-made pies are a speciality and together with a side-dish cost under £10, so £5 with the discount.”
St. Peter’s has recently started providing Sunday lunches at £9.95 for a beef or chicken main course and £13.95 for lamb.
